Technipedia project: trip to Cameroon

We travelled to Yaoundé (Cameroon) to collaborate with the Université de Yoaundé I in order to carry out some user requirement research with the aim of developing a Web platform: Technipedia.

This project forms part of a CIGU program (Consorci Interuniversitari de Gestió Universitària). It is coordinated by ACUP (Associació Catalana d’Universitats Públiques) and where four African universities also participate:, Université Cheikh Anta Diop (Senegal), Universidade Eduardo Mondlane (Mozambique), Université d’Antananarivo (Madagascar), and Universidad Nacional de Guinea Equatorial (Equatorial Guinea).

Technipedia endeavours to improve the relationship between universities and companies in order to facilitate knowledge transfer and strengthen entrepreneurial dynamics with a view to creating a closer-knit network of viable companies, promoting the creation of jobs and wealth and reducing unemployment among young university graduates.

pabloirene-camerun2Our objective there was to conduct a qualitative study of Technipedia end-users by means of a case study of young entrepreneurs from the University of Yaoundé in Cameroon, in order to ascertain their main needs when they try to set up an enterprise. We interviewed six future entrepreneurs and also other key profiles which are directly related to the process of setting up an enterprise, like that of a representative of the Yaoundé Chamber of Commerce, the director of the Yaoundé Incubator, a business expert, a TIC expert and entrepreneurs, which can all be considered as a success case of setting up an enterprise in Yaoundé. We also interviewed some investors in Catalonia.
